Harana Quintet is a collective of five young Filipino Canadian Musicians living in GTA whose mission is to preserve the traditional and contemporary musics of our native country for the Filipino Diaspora in Toronto. Blending elements of Spanish and Filipino folk musics with modern jazz, R&B and Funk, the group stays true to the roots of the Philippines all while adopting the customs and aesthetics of the various musical scenes of Toronto in a harmonious fashion. The group’s musical philosophy is based upon values like beauty and integrity while retaining the timelessness of the fun Filipino fiesta culture and spirit of our homeland.

Karsten Stryker and Chris Adriaanse met in Toronto's bluegrass jam community and formed a strong musical bond. Together they explore traditional and modern bluegrass, country, old-time and jazz repertoire with the goal of featuring their banjo and guitar picking and their harmony singing equally.
