THE ROYAL GIPSIES is a Toronto ensemble of musicians originally from Latin America. They bring the joyful and progressive sounds of Flamenco and Latin music as a Gipsy Kings Tribute band.  These seasoned artists have toured extensively, nationally and internationally and now have come together to be a part of OJOS NEGROS & ROYAL GYPSIES..

Alvaro Oyarce (Ojos negros), the band leader, began studying Flamenco singing 20 years ago at the Academy of Carmen Romero, Toronto’s well know Bailaora (Flamenco dancer). Since then, Alvaro has performed with and produced Flamenco oriented albums for; Gitano, Roger Scannura and Aram Moosakhanian. They have performed Latin and Flamenco music as a part of Pedestrian Sundays in Toronto’s Kensington Market all summer long. Ojos Negros was invited to performed at the Miss Canada event and got a great review from the audience. Two years ago, DROM Taverna hosted THE ROYAL GYPSIES to a full house of vibrant and "ready to fiesta" audience. Last summer, the band played the UMOJA Festival at St. Lawrence market and began making appearances in local venues.  The ensemble delivers a wide variety of Gipsy Kings, Latin standards, classics, and original repertoire full of high energy, grace, and passion.
