ISABEL & THE UNCOMMONS

Isabel Fryszberg & the Uncommons are sweet harmonies, original genre busting songs rooted in folk, jazz, country to blues. Some will make you laugh, or tear up, some are more philosophical. Others you might want to sing along with or dance. They are mostly about connecting. “All faithful to an old tradition while definitely walking the other side of the street”-, No depression Journal of Roots Music Isabel Fryszberg, singer and songwriter has written or cowritten diverse timeless songs of life, love and loss. Since her debut album, Hearts and Arrows released ten years ago, she has released a number of singles and award winning music videos. She plans to release a new EP in the near future. In addition to playing the Drom she has a residency at the Tranzac club where she and the Uncommons play every 4 th Saturday of the month. She is an interdisciplinary artist, and an en plein air painter.

The ‘uncommons,’ feature Toronto’s consummate musicians: Rebecca Campbell, vocalist, harmonies, Shelley Coopersmith on violin and Michael Eckert will be joining on dobro and peddle steel.

Campbell is a singer and musician known widely for her varied and expansive career singing with ensembles and songwriters including Special Interest Group; Collette Savard and the Savants; Sultans of String; Ben Sures; Jane Siberry; Parachute Club; Fat Man Waving; Three Sheets To The Wind; Lynn Miles; Ian Tamblyn; Carol Ann Weaver; Bec n Rusty; The Black Donnellys; the late Justin Haynes; and Paul Quarrington with Porkbelly Futures. 

Coopersmith plays violin/fiddle and mandolin. She has performed with such luminaries as Al Parrish, the Whiskey Sisters, Chris Staig and his band the Marquee Players, Tamarack and Sylvia Tyson. She is also a familiar figure in Toronto’s subway as a TTC busker.

Michael Eckert is a touring musician who plays with a number of bands locally and nationally. A masterful dobro and pedal steel player who will be gracing our repertoire at the Drom with his unique sound. This will a first for all of us and we are really looking forward to this performance.

TUMAKO

Tumako is a Toronto-based Funk and Soul/Rock Group. The members combine tight, accomplished musicianship with total commitment to setting a groove that energizes audiences and inspires people to dance. Through its live shows, Tumako has been bringing fun, rhythmically driven music and strong improvisational stylings to Toronto audiences since 2015.

15$ cover after 10pm, with all proceeds going directly to the musicians performing.
